Assistant Coach Wanted – St Paul’s Swimming Club

St Paul’s Swimming Club Inc
Position: Assistant coach

Hours:      To be negotiated 15 – 25 hours a week, includes some weekends
Location:  St Paul’s Collegiate, Hamilton, NZ

Assistant Coach duties – 
• Coach development squads & juniors who are working towards or are already at a National level
• Plan and implement swim training programs, overseeing land training
• Working alongside the Head Coach with emphasis on developing competitive swimmers
• Attend specified swim meets
• Help facilitate swimmers through the squad pathway
• Have the ability to take charge of the program in the absence of the Head Coach
• Help develop & mentor junior coaches

Requirements –
• Must have flexibility to work some early morning sessions 5.30am – 7.30am and afternoon availability between 3.30 pm – 7.00 pm, some weekend work will be required
• Great communication skills with all age groups, be able to actively engage in a training session while encouraging and motivating swimmers
• Must be reliable, punctual and have a passion for working with children
• Have a strong understanding of long term athlete development
• Be interested in upskilling and coach development
• A clear understanding of swimming technique

Essential –
• First Aid certificate
• Police clearance to work with children
• Preference bronze coaching certificate
• Have coached at squad level for minimum of two years or have been a competitive swimmer at a National level.
• Positive attitude

Rate of pay:    To be negotiated with the successful applicant
