Over the last few months we have had the pleasure of being involved with the University of Waikato’s Work Integrated Learning programme.

The programme is designed to support student-coaches studying at the University to get some practical experience at the coal face of sport.

Helping to support coaches at the beginning of their development is vital in ensuring we have well-educated leaders with the practical experience to work with our future athletes.

We had two student-coaches working with St Paul’s and St Peter’s respectively, and we are very pleased that one of these was our very own Claudia Ashby.
Both students worked with our Hub Head Coach leading into the project and have integrated well into the two clubs; both of them working on flexibility testing with the athletes.

We look forward to continuing our great relationship with the University and we wish both student all the very best with their report.
