Carlos Hardie from ACE Swimming Club is having a great year.
At the beginning of the year, he cleaned up at the Waikato Juniors, taking home 10 Gold medals. He has taken home the 13 and under Cup for most points and a scholarship at the Swimming Waikato Awards night and since then has broken 5 Waikato records, of which one stood since 1989. He medalled at this year’s Swimming New Zealand (SNZ) Junior Champs and has so far this year qualified in 11 events for SNZ Junior Champs 2015 where he hopes to medal again.
Not bad considering he is only 10 years old.
Carlos started learn to swim at the age of 3 and started club swimming at ACE when he was 7. Carlos is really enjoying his time at ACE and loves his coaches and the friends he has made there.
Besides swimming he also plays rugby in the winter and touch in the summer with his Southwell School mates. He plays the trombone and is part of the junior orchestra. He also enjoys singing and acting and is in the school choir and has been part of the school productions, including last term in “Fiddler on the Roof”.
