This section of our website gives us the opportunity to celebrate our athlete’s successes.
It’s easy to celebrate when our swimmers break Waikato records and win medals at National Events. But we believe it’s just as important to celebrate the successes that aren’t so easy to see. The ones that show the incremental improvements that our swimmers strive to make each time they enter the water.
As part of our celebration of swimming in the Waikato region, we’ll regularly upload updated lists showing our top swimmers ranked by their FINA points. Please note that these rankings are based on long course swims, so there won’t be any updating throughout the short course season.
And once again, we’ve changed the way we’re reporting the FINA points. From now on, we’re listing just the points of the swimmers who are in our TAPs and our Accelerate Squads. You can find out more about our squads in our Regional Development Pathway document.
For your information, the selection criteria for these squads is noted below –
TAPs SQUAD –
SNZ National Squad (FINA B Times) or
SNZ Development Squad (as below):
Male 13/14 and Female 12/13 – 600 FINA points
Male 15/16 and Female 14/15 – 660 FINA points
Male 17/18 and Female 16/17 – 720 FINA points
ACCELERATE SQUADS –
Male 13/14 and Female 12/13 – 350 to 599 FINA points
Male 15/16 and Female 14/15 – 450 to 659 FINA points
Male 17+ and Female 16+ – 500 to 719 FINA points
