Head Coach – Thames Swimming Club (Part-Time)

Thames Swimming Club is on the lookout for a passionate and motivated Head Coach to lead our growing swim programme. We’re a community-based, volunteer-run club with a strong focus on developing swimmers of all ages and abilities, from water confidence to competitive success.
About the Role:
You’ll be responsible for planning and leading training sessions for swimmers aged 7 to 18, including junior, development, and competitive squads. You’ll also work alongside assistant coaches and volunteers to ensure all swimmers receive quality coaching and a positive experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading sessions across all levels (Junior to Senior Squad)
- Planning training cycles and swimmer progression
- Supporting swimmers at competitions (local and regional)
- Mentoring assistant coaches and helping upskill volunteers
- Collaborating with the club committee and Swim Waikato
We’re looking for someone with:
- Previous coaching experience (Learn to Swim or competitive levels)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Swim coaching qualifications (or willingness to gain them)
- A positive, encouraging coaching style
- Availability for weekday afternoon/evening sessions
