In Loving Memory of Liz Agnew

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Liz Agnew on Thursday 14 August, surrounded by family and close friends.

Liz was a stalwart of swimming. Beginning in 1981, she volunteered and served in various committee roles with the Hamilton Swimming Club, before also contributing to the Rovers Swim Club, Fairfield Swimming Club, and later Hamilton Aquatics as a Technical Official. Liz dedicated her time and expertise at club, regional, national, and international level, and her service was recognised with a Service and Honours Award from Swimming New Zealand. In 2012, she was proudly made a Life Member of Swimming Waikato.

Liz’s long-standing commitment and passion for the sport of swimming has left a lasting impact on our community. Her contribution will continue to inspire swimmers, volunteers, and officials for years to come.

A celebration of Liz’s life will be held at 2pm on Wednesday 20 August 2025 at Woodside Estate, 130-132 Woodside Road, Matangi, Hamilton. All are welcome.

From all of us at Swimming Waikato – ngā mihi nui Liz, and thank you for your lifelong dedication to our sport. 💙
