Celebrating 7 years of leadership at Swimming Waikato as our CEO embarks on a new journey.

As I’m sure many of you will know by now, Darren Ward is moving on from Swimming Waikato to take up a new exciting CEO role at Waikato Hockey Association. Darren has had an incredible 7 years with us, and through his hard work and leadership, he has made Waikato one of, if not the leading region within New Zealand.

During his tenure, Darren has been instrumental in developing numerous programs that have benefited swimmers of all ages and skill levels. His dedication to fostering young talent and promoting a culture of excellence has left a lasting impact on our community.

One of our team’s notable achievements, under Darren’s leadership, was the introduction of the SwimSafe water safety program. This initiative has significantly enhanced water safety awareness and education across the region. Together, we have ensured that swimmers of all ages understand the importance of water safety and are equipped with the skills to stay safe in, on and around water.

On behalf of all the swimmers, coaches, schools, and teams around the Waikato Region, we would like to thank Darren for all his hard work and wish him all the best for the future in his new role. We are confident that he will bring the same level of commitment and success to Waikato Hockey as he did with us.
