aquatic education really does save lives!

Swimming Waikato has partnered with local funders, swimming clubs and facilities to deliver 10,000 fully funded water safety and survival swimming lessons to date. Our goal is to prioritise the delivery of aquatic skills that focus on drowning prevention rather than formal stroke development, as well as empowering teachers by providing water safety resources and mentoring.
This year, we are very excited to expand our primary school program from Hamilton City and Waikato District, into the Thames-Coromandel district.

What We Offer

  • Water Safety lessons to Decile 1-5 primary schools with and without pools
  • Professional development for teachers prior to Water Safety lessons commencing in school
  • Two trained Water Safety facilitators to deliver poolside water competency lessons over five consecutive days
  • Water Safety resources linked to NZC taught alongside the physical skills
  • Funding up to $5,500 including fees per school annually (subject to criteria and funding available)
  • One set (30) of Arena googles (subject to availability)
